This medicine contains the active ingredient indacaterol which belongs to a group of medicines called bronchodilators. These medicines relax the muscle by decreasing resistance in the respiratory airway. This opens the airway and increases airflow to the lungs. Indacaterol is prescribed for the treatment of breathing difficulties caused by chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It reduces the symptoms like coughing, wheezing and feeling breathless if taken routinely; it does not work for fast relief.

Is Indacaterol suitable for me?

Indacaterol is not suitable for everyone. Do not use it

• if you are allergic to indacaterol, or other ingredients of this medicine

In particular, you must tell the doctor if you:

• are pregnant or breastfeeding
• have asthma
• have heart problems
• have epilepsy
• have thyroid gland problems
• have diabetes
• have high blood pressure
• have low levels of potassium in your blood
• have fits, or epilepsy
• have liver problems

Indacaterol interacts with other medicines. It is most important that you tell the doctor all the medications and herbal supplements that you are currently taking.

How should I take Indacaterol?

This medicine is available in form of inhalation powder.

You should take indacaterol exactly as instructed by your doctor or pharmacist. The dose will be prescribed according to your condition and needs.

• The usual dose is between 150 and 300 mcg per day.
• The powder should not be swallowed, only inhaled.

Do not use more of it, do not use it more often, or do not use it for a longer time than your doctor instructed. Do not take two doses together if you miss a dose.

What are Indacaterol side effects?

Like all medicines indacaterol can cause side effects, including:

Very common

• sore throat,
• runny or blocked nose,
• sneezing, coughing,
• headache

Common

• inflammation of the sinuses
• cough
• dizziness
• palpitations
• muscle spasm
• swollen hands, ankles and feet (edema)
• itching/rash
• chest pain
• pain in muscles, bones or joints

Uncommon

• fast heart beat
• tingling or numbness
