This medicine contains the active ingredient calcium carbonate. Calcium is essential for healthy growth of bones and teeth. Calcium carbonate is prescribed for the prevention or treatment of calcium deficiency in children, pregnant women and elderly.
Is Calcium Carbonate suitable for me?
Calcium carbonate is not suitable for everyone. Do not use it
- if you are allergic to calcium carbonate or other ingredients of this medicine
- if you have high blood or urine calcium levels
- if you have kidney stones or kidney problems
- if you have an overactive parathyroid gland
- if you suffer from Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (frequent stomach ulcers)
- if you are on a low phosphate diet
- if you have osteoporosis due to long-term immobility
In particular, you must tell the doctor if you:
- have high blood phosphate levels or high levels of calcium in the urine
- have dehydration, heart problems, hardening of the arteries, kidney problems, kidney stones, or sarcoidosis
- take digoxin
- have taken a direct thrombin inhibitor (dabigatran) within the past 24 hours
- have sarcoidosis (a condition causing inflammation)
Calcium carbonate interacts with other medicines. It is most important that you tell the doctor all the medications and herbal supplements that you are currently taking.

How should I take Calcium Carbonate?
This medicine is available in form of a effervescent tablet.
You should take calcium carbonate exactly as instructed by your doctor or pharmacist.
Do not use more of it, do not use it more often, or do not use it for a longer time than your doctor instructed. Do not take two doses together if you miss a dose.
