These medicines stop the activation of Angiotensin-II receptors in blood vessels and this causes the blood vessels to widen, and the blood pressure to lower. Hydrochlorothiazide belongs to a group of medicines called thiazide diuretics, also known as water tablets. These medicines cause the kidneys to produce more urine, and in that way they free your body from retaining the extra fluid. Hydrochlorothiazide belongs to a group of medicines called thiazide diuretics, also known as water tablets. These medicines cause the kidneys to produce more urine, and in that way they free your body from retaining the extra fluid. Valsacombi is prescribed for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). 

Is Valsacombi suitable for me?

Valsacombi is not suitable for everyone. Do not use it

  • If you are allergic to valsartan, hydrochlorothiazide, or other ingredients of this medicine
  • If you are more than 3 months pregnant
  • If you have severe kidney disease
  • If you are unable to produce urine (anuria)
  • If the level of potassium or sodium in your blood is lower than normal, or if the level of calcium in your blood is higher than normal
  • If you have gout
  • If you are being treated with aliskiren
  • If you have severe liver problems

In particular, you must tell the doctor if you:

  • are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • get excessive vomiting or diarrhea
  • have low levels of potassium in your blood
  • have high levels of cholesterol or triglycerides in your blood
  • have kidney, liver or hearth problems
  • are undergoing dialysis
  • have received a kidney transplant recently
  • have problems with your heart valves or heart muscle
  • suffer from coronary heart disease or cerebrovascular disease
  • suffer from primary aldosteronism (increased secretion of the hormone aldosterone by the adrenal gland)

Valsacombi interacts with other medicines. It is most important that you tell the doctor all the medications and herbal supplements that you are currently taking.

How should I take Valsacombi?

This medicine is available in form of a film-coated tablet.

You should take Valsacombi exactly as instructed by your doctor or pharmacist. The dose will be prescribed according to your condition and needs.

  • The usual dose is one tablet per day.

Do not use more of it, do not use it more often, or do not use it for a longer time than your doctor instructed. Also, this medicine works best if there is a constant amount in the blood. To help keep this amount constant, do not miss any doses and take the medicine at the same time each day. Do not take two doses together if you miss a dose.

What are Valsacombi side effects?

Like all medicines Valsacombi can cause side effects, including:

Uncommon:

  • cough
  • low blood pressure
  • light-headedness
  • thirst, dry mouth and tongue
  • infrequent urination
  • dark colored urine
  • dry skin
  • muscle pain
  • tiredness
  • tingling or numbness
  • blurred vision
  • noises in ears

Very rare:

  • dizziness
  • diarrhea
  • joint pain
