Product information

This medicine contains the active ingredient thiocolchicoside which is a muscle relaxant with anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect. This medicine has a direct effect on the GABA receptors in the spinal cord level and some receptors within the central nervous system.  Thiocolchicoside is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of the following muscle, rheumatic and neurological diseases associated with spasms or contractures of skeletal muscle: degenerative diseases of the spine such as torticollis, backache and lumbago; neurological diseases with spasms; co-administration during physical therapy (rehabilitation).

Is Thiocolchicoside suitable for me?

Thiocolchicoside is not suitable for everyone. Do not use it

  • if you are allergic to thiocolchicoside, or other ingredients of this medicine

In particular, you must tell the doctor if you:

  • are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • have kidney or liver problems
  • have diabetes, fructose or lactose intolerance
  • have muscle hypotony
  • have kidney failure 

Thiocolchicoside interacts with other medicines. It is most important that you tell the doctor all the medications and herbal supplements that you are currently taking.

How should I take Thiocolchicoside?

This medicine is available in form of a capsule.

You should take thiocolchicoside exactly as instructed by your doctor or pharmacist. The dose will be prescribed according to your condition and needs. 

  • The usual dose is one or two capsules per day, taken after meal.

Do not use more of it, do not use it more often, or do not use it for a longer time than your doctor instructed. Also, this medicine works best if there is a constant amount in the blood. To help keep this amount constant, do not miss any doses and take the medicine at the same time each day. Do not take two doses together if you miss a dose.

What are Thiocolchicoside side effects?

Like all medicines thiocolchicoside can cause side effects, including:

  • stomach pain
  • diarrhea
  • nausea

Rare

  • hypotension
  • loss of consciousness
  • restlessness
  • sleepiness
  • skin rash
  • contact dermatitis
